Major Assignment: Instructional Guide for a family following the death of a loved one.
This assignment is based on the scenario you chose for your first assignment.
Scenario 1: An elderly Christian person, with a spouse, children and grandchildren dies peacefully at home.
Scenario 2: A middle aged Christian person dies in a Hospice from cancer. They may have a spouse, and ex-spouse, and children.
Scenario 3:A young Christian adult dies unexpectedly in an accident.
Task:
Prepare an instructional guide for a family who have just experienced the death of a loved one. You can present the information in whatever format you choose, but you should consider a format that would be user-friendly for a family who are grieving (so a short booklet might be best). It should sound friendly, but professional.
The presentation must be 800 words minimum.
The guide MUST include:
An explanation of why, since the person who died was Christian, it would be important to choose a Christian funeral. Describe the core beliefs that would be part of the Christian Funeral.
Information about Grief: what to expect and where/how to get help (or more information about grief) if they need it.
A guide to visiting the Funeral Home, including a explanation of some of the things they will need to be aware of:
what happens at a Funeral Home, and why a coroner might be involved (in case they have never been before)
explain the decisions that have to be made at the Funeral Home (eg. casket), so they can prepare.
Some of the costs they may need to consider
What to consider when preparing for a Vigil (and what they could include at the Vigil: readings, music, eulogy, symbols). You might need to explain how the Vigil is different from the Mass.
What to consider when preparing for a Funeral Mass (and what they could include at the Mass: readings, music, symbols). You might like to use the Catholic Funeral Planner to help with this part of your presentation.
What to expect at the Cemetery (it would be a good idea to cover this from both from a religious point of view and from an emotional point of view).
